I got my final proofread and I'm pleased to say I did change the front cover of the book.  So thank you to Teresa, Rita and Anna for your previous post.  It shouln't be long before it's available in print.  Writing Heartfelt took me in a different direction.  It's a small book of encouragement for individuals to establish a more personal relationship with our Lord.  I'll post site when it is available for print.

Last May I had an inspiration for a new book.  I sent out over twenty letters to friends and family with the idea.  I asked for a prayer and photo that they could contribute.  I took the responces and wrote the book Heartfelt.  Last weekend, I uploaded the book to the publisher and I'm waiting for the first edit or  proofread to come back to me.  I have been working on the cover and discription.  Most of you know I do not have an illustrator so I use photo's.  Since I own the rights to them, it's solves that problem. Here is the book cover that I designed using one of the templates of the publisher.  Let me know what you think.  There's not many choices but I can change things like color of font, color of book, ect.  I picked this flower off my neighbors bush and purchased the frame it sits in.  I gave it to David as a valentine present in 2011.  The template for this book cover sizes the uploaded photo to this measurement.  The title of the book below the picture has an option of author's name or title or nothing.  What do you think?  Keep the book title below the pic or leave it out.  I think without it, the photo floats or looks to small. Remember, I can't change the size of photo.  Thanks for any comments.

This morning I had a hard time with controlling my thoughts.  I would say to myself, "You're not going to think or say something like that again." In the next instant I would do exactly what I said I wouldn't do.  It's all mind control!  In proverbs 23:7 it says, "For as he thinks within himself, so he is."  That really gets to me and I'm on my knees asking forgiveness.  I believe what it says and so I fail again when I have thoughts that make me look at things selfishly.  I can see myself honestly and know I fail HIM. I'm so sorry.  I have great struggle within myself on not being a humble person.  How can God use me if I do not have a humble spirit.  I do not do good works for the right reason without being humble.  I struggle with this.  My need to feel important must be nailed to the cross.
 

I went to bed with thoughts about advertising on my mind last night.  I purchased a small magnetic sign for my car with hopes of using it as a way to advertise and it made me think about how all christians are walking advertisments for Jesus.  Lets look and see what others see in our examples of advertising for Him.

Coming soon.  Just finished and uploaded.  Waiting for final proof and if all specifications are met the book will be published.  So excited, it makes me feel I'm accomplishing something.

I'm learning to structure my time in writing so I'm not lost for hours on the computer.  Time gets away from me and I'm so distracted that my normal duties or routines get set aside.  I missed washing my sheets yesterday.  It is usually done on Friday, oops!  I got so busy writing in the morning that the bed was made before I remembered to change the sheets.  So now, writing has a structured time in my routines or else nothing gets done.

I worked on my new story while it rained most of the day.  I enjoy having something other than house work, TV or scrubbing floors to do.  I have a few new ideas that I'm going to implement into my book and I hope the readers connect to the story.  We'll see.

I got my first book, Mrs. Otis' Surprise Package, through the process of making it available in print.  Some have bought the electronic book and I appreciate it.  I still have not recieved any royalities from any of the books on sale.  It has to be a minimum of 60 days after the first month of sales and 40.00.  So I'm pitching them again.  Please send my web site to anyone who may have an interest in children's books, people who may have connections to book stores that you know; just help me get the word out please.  My web site is:  www.normafrick.com.  It shows the stories and they're linked to the site where they are sold at.  Thanks again everyone who have been supportive of these efforts.      www.normafrick.com

I had a wonderful surprise yesterday.  I was on my way to Wednesday evening Bible class and stopped to say hello to a neighbor who was outside doing lawn work.  After chatting I let him see a copy of my book, The BFF's, that was available in print.  We share something in common, he has grand kids too and I though he might like to get one for them.  The surprise for me was that he had already purchased it!  I knew three people had bought it, a friend at church and a friend that I went to college with who lives in New Mexico.  I didn't know who was the third until last evening.  It made me overjoyed that those three would care enough for me to purchase it.

I have published The Bff's in print form and refined the text that was in the ebook format.  Designing the cover was fun and I hope eye-catching.  This is all such a new experience for me and I want to share it with everyone.  I hope I'm not overloading friends with it.  Thank you to those of whom have supported me and I look forward to writing new stories written for all of God's children.www.createspace.com/3874347

I have to share my Mary/Martha moment with you today. I was reading (my morning devo) when I needed to visit the "little girls room". After finishing I decided to clean the bathroom. Then I walked through my bedroom to get back to where I was reading and I noticed my bed wasn't made. So I stopped to fix it. I was thinking how I was never going to get back to reading and that's when it hit me. (I started laughing) I could keep finding duties that needed to be done but I listened to Jesus' words, "Mary has chosen better...." so now, after posting this, I'm going back to my reading.. "Having a Mary Heart In a Martha World, by Joanna Weaver.

I finished writing my BFF story today.  So now it's off to my editor, my brother Lee.  I'm sure I'll get though all his corrections and since his fee is affortable (free) I'll be ready to add illustrations to the text soon.  Looking forward to uploading another e-book to be published and to share on facebook when that day arrivies.

"My BFF's" story is coming along nicely.  About half of the outline is now written and David is out taking more pictures for the book.   I laugh thinking about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abedego as birds and these three men (in paradise-heaven) laughing too.  I don't know if we are able to communicate with others after death but you three men, if you're aware, you are great examples of men with perfect faith that has been recorded in scripture for all of us to read about.

Great day today, I have successfuly imported my book to Barnes & Nobel and must wait 12 hours to have them verify.  After that, people with Nooks will be able to download it to their device.  I'm happy but tired.  I'll send a link to it when I recieve comfirmation.

I have spent my whole day and dragging my husband into my madness of trying to set up my web page.  They said it would be easy but we disagree!

Last night, around 10, I went to my book that I had finished writing and illustrating.  I did a final check and decided to give it a try. I uploaded it to epub and it went through!  It's in a ebook format and now I just have to locate where it can be sold at and how to locate it on my web site.  Still learning but I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel.  I went to bed at 6 a.m. this morning so I'm sort of brain dead trying to figure out my next step.  But I think the hard part is over and marketing is about to begin.  Signing off for today, I'm taking a nap!  lol

This morning at worship the lesson started with this verse, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16: 3.  Such a good way to start everyday.  I'm committed to Him and I know He wants the best for me, so I will wait on the Lord believing my endeavors with this book will come to pass at the best time.  I finished the photos and layout of the book last night.  Now I will be learning how to publish an ebook and get the ball rolling.  If anyone has had an opportunity to self publish in this manner, please feel free to offer any advise so this step in my journey goes smoothly.

Mrs. Otis's Surprise package is the first book in my Imagine That series. It is loosely based on a incident in my sister Lorraine's classroom. I have dedicated the book to her and I hope, when it's published, everyone will enjoy the story a much as I did when she first told me. I said a long time ago, "Lorraine, that would make a great children's story." That was over twenty years ago and now it is about to become a reality.  Lorraine, I hope you have been aware of this happening! I'ts thanks to you for the idea.

The book is coming along great.  All the text is finished and I'm cartooning the pics for each page.  Soon I'll send to epub if I can get some of the photo's exactly how I envision them.

Chapter 9 The next chapter in my book of life.

It's 11:23 on Wednesday evening, March 21st, 2012.  Funny, 11/23 has always been special for me since it was the day I was born but I see these numbers a lot. On clocks, when I just happen to look over at it or some one's house number as I drive by. So I'm not surprised at the time tonight. I am starting a new chapter in my book of life. Let me explain. I have always told my husband that I wanted a lot of chapters in my book of life not just one long saga. I've broken down the big events that have happen to me into chapters. Chapter 1: My birth through high school graduation Chapter 2: College years Chapter 3: Teaching Chapter 4: Marriage and children Chapter 5: Colorado Chapter 6: Discovering my 50's Chapter 7: God Given Talents Chapter 8: Florida Chapter 9: Writing & Blogging I'll write a little about each chapter in later blogs but I hope whoever reads them will be able to see the pattern that was set before me and how grateful I am. I live loved; by my God, my Lord and savior Jesus Christ and my partner in life, David Frick.

Imagine That

I'm starting a new chapter in my book of life and I want to be able to reach out and share with everyone my journey through Imagine That books.  After retiring from all my jobs and praying for direction, He has given me the inspiration to write a children's book.  I have finished writing it and in the process of putting it into an ebook.  Self-publishing is the way I can accomplish this goal.  The title of my first Imagine That book is Mrs. Otis's Surprise Package and I hope to have a link set up soon that can lead you to it.  I'm learning this as I go so please be patient with me.  I could use your prayers in this attempt.  I'm following where my spirit is leading me and want to serve Him while writing these books.
